Massive! Deal between GE and the Indian government is anticipated to take place during Prime Minister Modi’s trip to the United States.

All future fighter aircraft, including the Tejas Mk II, will have the GE F414 engines that are powering them because production of these engines is beginning in India. The engine will be used in both the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) and the Twin Engine Deck Based Fighter (TEDBF), both of which will be outfitted with the aircraft.

During the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi two weeks later, it is expected that India and the United States would announce the manufacturing of fighter aircraft engines by General Electric (GE) in India. This announcement will take place during the visit. Since 2012, this procedure has been dragged out due to disagreements on the transfer of technologies.

A source claimed that during a bilateral defence talk that took place on Monday in Delhi between the Indian Minister of Defence Rajnath Singh and the United States Secretary of Defence Lloyd Austin, “issues pertaining to the GE deal dominated the discussion along with China’s aggressive action and the ongoing situation in Pakistan.”

In addition to this topic, the two ministers also reviewed the rapidly shifting regional security situation, which included the Indo-Pacific region.

According to sources inside the defence establishment, Rajnath Singh has reportedly requested that his counterpart in the United States enhance sourcing from India and build MRO facilities in India for equipment that is used with the Indian armed forces and can also cater to the region.
