Despite the ups and downs, Britney Spears and Kevin Federline’s relationship has seen over the years, Kevin Federline is in favor of his ex-choice wife taking some time for herself.

Sean Preston, now 13, and Jayden James, now 12, are the two sons that Spears, 37, and Federline, 41, who divorced in 2007, have together. While Spears is receiving treatment, it is thought that the boys are with Federline.

Federline, a backup dancer for Justin Timberlake before meeting Spears, and their whirlwind affair started in 2004.

Spears and Federline moved into a Malibu mansion after getting married and shared their desire to have children together. Spears, who was 24 at the time, filed for divorce in November 2006, only eight weeks after the birth of her son, citing irreconcilable differences.

The couple’s initial divorce agreement, signed in March 2007, upheld their temporary arrangement of shared legal and physical custody of their children. Federline, though, was still hesitant to sign the documents in June due to his growing concerns about Spears’ erratic conduct. The singer checked herself into Promises in Malibu around this time and stayed there for four weeks.

Latest Update on Britney Spears and Kevin Federline’s Ongoing Case

The singer, dancer, reality television personality, and ex-husband of Britney Spears, Kevin Federline, gave a rare, in-depth interview to Britain’s ITV television network. Most remarkable were Federline’s comments regarding the two boys, aged 16 and 15, who he has with Spears. Despite living close to one another in the Greater Los Angeles area, he said that the children have chosen not to see their mother.

“The boys have decided they are not seeing her right now,” Federline said in the interview. “It’s been a few months since they’ve seen her. They made the decision not to go to her wedding.”

“The most difficult thing I’ve ever had to do in my life”, according to Federline, was to watch his sons witness the public dispute between Spears and her father, Jamie Spears, over her conservatorship.

Federline declared that in the end, he thought the controversial conservatorship, from which Spears sought to be freed, was done with good intentions. “When Jamie took over, things got into order. He saved her life,” he said.

The Daily Mail quoted him as saying that he had to “apologize to the boys for any flak they experienced as a result” because of Spears’ recent penchant for sharing nude selfies on Instagram.

“I try to explain to them,” Federline added, “‘maybe that’s just another way she tries to express herself.’ But that doesn’t take away from the fact of what it does to them. It’s tough.” He concluded that he “can’t imagine how it feels to be a teenager having to go to high school.”

He further clarified that he has no enmity toward Jamie Spears or any other member of the larger Spears family. “I would absolutely welcome Jamie Spears back in the boys’ lives,” he said, even though he and Britney’s father have had their own legal entanglements in the past. “People make mistakes,” Federline said. “I feel bad for him. I feel like he’s been put through the wringer.”

Currently, Federline resides with his wife Victoria Prince, a former professional volleyball player, and their two children. He also mentioned that the other two of his oldest children, who he shares with his ex-girlfriend Shar Jackson, frequently visit, bringing the total number of Federline children to six.

The pop icon took to Instagram stories on Saturday night to write, in white on a plain black background, “it saddens me to hear that my ex husband has decided to discuss the relationship between me and my children.”

She added, “as we all know, raising teenage boys is never easy for anyone. It concerns me the fact that the reasons is based on my Instagram… it was LONG before Instagram,”

She continued, employing a stream-of-consciousness style, “I gave them everything… Only one word: HURTFUL… I’ll say it… My mother told me ‘You should GIVE them to their dad’.”

She concluded “I’m sharing this because I can… Have a good day folks!”

On Sunday morning, Spears posted a follow-up to Instagram, which read, in part, “I’m only human and I’ve done my best,” and “I daringly would like to ask the Federline’s [sic] to watch the BIG BOOTY VIDEO,” which is presumedly a reference to the Gucci Mane-Megan Thee Stallion collaboration, which Spears cites as artists doing “much worse when their children were extremely young.”
