Drew Barrymore is an American actress, producer, director, model, and author.

Drew is a member of the Barrymore family of actors, and the granddaughter of John Barrymore. Drew first appeared in an advert when she was just 11 months old.

Her first film appearance was in the Altered States (1982). She has since appeared in a number of films, including E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982), Firestarter (1984), Poison Ivy (1992), Boys on the Side (1995), Scream (1996), Ever After (1998), Charlie’s Angels (2000), The Wedding Singer (1998), 50 First Dates (2004), and Blended (2014).

Barrymore was born in Culver City, California, to actor John Drew Barrymore and Jaid Barrymore (née Ildiko Jaid Mako). She has three half-siblings, John Blyth Barrymore, Jessica Barrymore, and Blyth Dolores Barrymore, and a stepsister, Nouvelle Marique. Barrymore’s godparents are Lee Strasberg and the screenwriter Robert Towne.

Barrymore is of Irish, English, German, and Welsh descent. She was raised Roman Catholic, though she has said that she does not practice the religion.

In her early teens, Barrymore experienced severe anxiety and depression, for which she was treated with therapy and medication.

Barrymore began acting when she was 11 months old, appearing in commercials and various television programs.

After Barrymore was born, her mother, Jaid, quickly brought her to audition for commercial work. She began appearing in television commercials at the age of 11 months. One of her first national commercials was for the Polaroid Camera. She made her film debut in 1982’s E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial.

Barrymore told “People” in a 1993 interview that she used to suffer from severe anxiety and depression, which she treated with therapy and medication.

In 2003, Barrymore published her memoir, “Little Girl Lost”. The memoir generated mixed reviews, with some praising Barrymore’s openness about her personal struggles, while others criticized it for being too self-indulgent. In the book, Barrymore revealed that she had once attempted suicide by consuming a large number of pills.
