House of the Dragon Review - Is it better than Game of Thrones?

One of the numerous Game of Thrones spin-offs that have been in the making since the original series’ 2019 conclusion is House of The Dragon. All eyes have been on the show’s setting, which will center on the House Targaryen and the Iron Throne, as well as the trailer and series updates. Early reviews of the new show have been flooding social media, and reviewers are lavishing praise on it. It is enough to say that the new series will be action-packed, gory, and intensely dramatic.

Is House of The Dragon better than Game of Thrones?

House of The Dragon, which is set more than 300 years before the events of Game of Thrones, is based on the saga creator George R. R. Martin’s book Fire & Blood. It also describes House Targaryen and the Dance of the Dragons, the Targaryen civil war.

Early reviews of the show have been overwhelmingly favorable, with some praising its uniqueness and comparing it favorably to Game of Thrones in terms of both storytelling and CGI. House of The Dragon would undoubtedly meet fan expectations if such were the case. The season will be jam-packed with visual spectacles since the video already hinted that dragons and large-scale wars would be present.

What are critics saying about House of The Dragon?

In late July, House of The Dragon had its Los Angeles debut. Ryan Condal and Miguel Sapotchnik, the show’s co-executive producers and co-showrunners gave an introduction before the showing of the series pilot that evening during the premiere. Reviews of the episode have been flooding social media since it was first shown to a small group of fans and critics.

Brandon Katz wrote for The Wrap, “The #HouseOfTheDragonHBO pilot very efficiently explains its context in relation to GoT, introduces its core characters, and lays out the central conflict of the series. It’s an easy-to-follow premiere with vibrant colours and detailed texture. Absolutely a worthy successor so far (sic).”

Cat Combs praised the show writing, “I didn’t know how much I missed the #GameofThrones theme song until I heard it tonight at the #HouseoftheDragon premiere! That first episode is fantastic! Can’t wait to see what’s next. Fingers crossed it’s no repeat of the final season of GoT (sic).”
