Yeezy Day Drama 2022 - Kanye West Vs Adidas

It is no secret that Kanye West and Adidas’ relationship is rocky now more than ever, despite all the money, fame, and attention Kanye West has attracted on behalf of the German sportswear giant.

Currently, it seems that the much-hyped Yeezy Day 2022 is causing the three-stripe company and Ye to run into yet another problem. The brilliant creator asserted on Instagram that the brand had included the yearly Yeezy Day without his consent.

Everything to know about Kanye West x Yeezy Day 2022 drama

On August 2, 2022, Kanye West sent a Direct Message to several media organizations, including Complex. He ranted about the countless items that were released to the market without his consent in the statement, including the official launch of Yeezy Day.

He addressed this issue in his direct IG post and went on to write about various other problems he has had with the brand. The Adidas brand has been celebrating the holiday for three straight years as of Yeezy Day 2022. But it was obvious from the DM that Kanye wasn’t partaking in the festivities.

Ye didn’t hold back and wrote,

“Adidas made up the Yeezy day idea without my approval. Then went and brought back older styles without my approval.”

Further, he claimed that a variety of elements, such as colorways, shoe names, and the staff working on the project, were not approved by him.

“(Adidas) picked colours and named them without my approval and hired people that worked for me without my approval.”

Of course, Kanye West’s anger didn’t end there as he continued to accuse the three-stripe label of using his ideas freely throughout the Adidas Originals line of products and stealing them for their profit.

“(Adidas) stole my colourways without my approval stole my styles and materials without my approval went and hired a gm of Yeezy without my approval and took talent on the production side and sprinkled them throughout Adidas Originals.”

He goes on to discuss his rip-off of the Yeezy slides. West claims that when he first asked the company to roll out more Yeezy slides, they originally refused, claiming that manufacturing had reached its peak, but then began releasing the adilettes.

“When I originally ordered Adidas to make more Yeezy slides the GM lied to my face and said they didn’t have the capacity meanwhile Adidas was copying my slides and making their own version of the Yeezy slide. “

Kanye West also took some time to discuss his ongoing, highly successful collaboration with Gap and Balenciaga. He asserted that the three-stripe label slowed the creation of the casual sneakers he and Demna Gvasalia, the creative director of Balenciaga, designed for the Gap.

Kanye West stated that during the creation of casual shoes with Balenciaga and Gap, he did not violate his contract with the three-stripe label. But the three-stripe label bullied Gap into believing that.

“Even though they did a Balenciaga collaboration they completely slowed down production on the shoes me and Demna developed for Gap by trying to bully Gap even though my contract states I can do casual shoes which I was doing when I did fashion shows.”

For those who are unaware, Yeezy Day is an annual event where the German sportswear giant re-releases several well-known models from Kanye West’s Yeezy collection for two consecutive days, along with numerous new GRs on the official CONFIRMED and Yeezy Supply e-commerce sites.

Given that the company only produces a small number of each Yeezy release, the occasion causes a significant increase in sales and raises the exposure of Adidas’ CONFIRMED app, which competes with Nike’s SNKRS app.

The Utility Black Yeezy 450 was the first release of this year’s Yeezy Day, which started at 10 a.m. ET on August 2, 2022.
