FIFA, the world’s brass of football, announced on Tuesday that it’s decided to suspend the All India Football Federation (AIFF) effective immediately.
FIFA, the world’s administration of football, announced on Tuesday that it’s decided to suspend the All India Football Federation (AIFF).
The decision was made unanimously by the organisation’s Council Bureau. The choice was made as a result of undue influence from third parties, which may be a serious violation of its Statutes.
“The Council Bureau unanimously decided to suspend the All India Football Federation with immediate effect because of undue influence from third parties, which constitutes a heavy violation of its Statutes,” per an official media release.
The federation further stated that the suspension would be lifted as soon because the decision to form a committee of administrators to exercise the authority of the AIFF Executive Committee had been reversed and also the AIFF administration had reclaimed full control over the organization’s day-to-day operations.
The Under-17 Women’s tournament 2022, which was alleged to be held in India from October 11–30, 2022, cannot currently be held in India as scheduled, consistent with the announcement.
FIFA is evaluating the tournament’s next steps in addition and, if and when necessary, will refer the problem to the Bureau of the Council.
According to the discharge, “FIFA is up-to-date with the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports in India and has positive hopes that a favourable outcome to the case might still be achieved.”
