Synopsis: After no one matched all five numbers and the Powerball to claim the nearly $825 million prize in Saturday’s drawing, the jackpot is set to reach the billion-dollar mark. According to the lottery, this is only the second time in Powerball’s 30-year history that the jackpot has reached $1 billion.

27 OCTOBER 2022: No one hit Powerball jackpot, new drawing an estimated $800M

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Because no one won the estimated $700 million Powerball jackpot, the big prize will increase to $800 million for the next drawing. The following numbers were drawn on Wednesday night (October 26, 2022): 19, 36, 37, 46, and 56.

The Powerball number was 24. Since August 3, no one has matched all six numbers and won the Powerball jackpot, allowing it to grow to the fifth-largest in U.S. history. That’s 36 drawings in a row without a jackpot winner. The next drawing will take place on Saturday. The new $800 million jackpot is for winners who choose to receive their winnings as an annuity over a 29-year period. However, nearly all winners opt for the cash option, which amounts to $383.7 million after taxes.

29 OCTOBER 2022: No one hit Powerball jackpot, new drawing an estimated $825M

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Because players continue to lose, the Powerball jackpot grows larger. It happened again on Saturday night (Oct. 29, 2022), when no one matched all six numbers and won the estimated $825 million jackpot. That means the next drawing will be for a massive $1 billion annuity or $497.3 million in cash on Monday night, which is today.

Saturday night’s winning numbers were: white balls 19, 31, 40, 46, 57, and the red power ball 23.

A ticket holder in Florida won $2 million by matching all five white balls, and six tickets in California, Michigan, Maryland, and Texas each won $1 million.

Players who did not win the latest grand prize in the 30-year-old lottery should keep their receipts.

A ticket holder from Florida matched all five white balls in Saturday’s drawing, increasing the prize to $2 million by using the game’s “Power Play” feature. Six tickets, two from California, two from Michigan, one from Maryland, and one from Texas, won a $1 million prize by matching five white balls.

Another 17 tickets won a $150,000 prize, and 80 people won $50,000 each. According to Powerball, more than 3.8 million tickets won cash prizes totaling more than $38 million.

The increased jackpot today will remain the fifth-largest in US history. The largest prize was a $1.586 billion Powerball jackpot won in 2016 by three ticket holders.

The advertised top prize of $1 billion is for winners who receive their winnings in the form of an annuity paid over 29 years. Winners almost always choose cash, which for Monday’s drawing is expected to be $497.3 million.

Powerball is played in 45 states, as well as Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
