Veteran actor Vikram Gokhale dies at the age of 82- Indian cinema loses another gem!

Legendary actor Vikram Gokhale, who made his directorial debut with the Marathi film Aaghaat in 2010. Sprint Arts Creation created the video. For his Marathi film Anumati, he won the National Film Award for Best Actor in 2013. The Actor died at the age of 82 while receiving treatment in a Pune hospital. The actor had been in critical condition at the hospital for more than 15 days.

The Veteran actor has performed in more than 100 films and plays inlcuding the mega block buster Bhool Bhulaiyaa (2007) where he played Acharya Yagyaprakash Bharti, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999), De Dana Dan (2009) as Paramjeet Singh Lamba, Agneepath (1990), Hichki (2018) as Principal Khan, Mission Mangal (2019) as Shrikant Bhosle — The Director of ISRO, Bang Bang! (2014) and many more.

According to sources, Vikram Gokhale’s remains would be taken to the Balgandharva Sabhagruha in Pune tomorrow morning.

Ajay Devgn, who spent screen time with Gokhale, rushed to Twitter to express his feelings.

Vikram Gokhale Sir brought a lot of gravitas to the roles he essayed. He always stood tall. I had the good fortune of sharing screen time with him. His passing away is very sad. I pray his soul finds eternal peace. RIP Vikram Sir.

Fans have paid respect to the late actor on social media, and condolence notes have also poured in.

One fan wrote “My first memory of seeing you on the big screen was Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and I thought the Male vocals of Albela Sajan were sung by you as it felt so real. Rest in peace Vikram Gokhale Sir”

Moses Sapir shared a picture of the late actor Vikram Fokhale with Amitabh Bachchan from the sets of Agneepath with the caption, “Amitabh Bachchan and #VikramGokhale on the set of #Agneepath Memorable scene RIP #VikramGokhale ji”

While Anirudh Dave shared an onscreen picture with Gokhale ji with the caption,

“One of the finest actor #VikramGokhale ji, I learned a lot from you…it’s end of an era baauji

🙏

RIP”

Vikram Gokhale previously ran an acting school in Pune, where he and his wife had lived for many years. Vrushali Gokhle, his wife, and their two daughters survive him.

He comes from a family of actors. His grandmother was an actress, and his father worked in Marathi cinema and theater.

During an interview with ETimes, he recalled how Amitabh Bachchan helped him in his early days in Bollywood.

“I went through a lot of struggle when I entered this Industry. I was going through a huge financial crunch and was looking for shelter in Mumbai. When Amitabh Bachchan came to know about this, he personally wrote a letter to Manohar Joshi, who was the Chief Minister of Maharashtra during 1995-99. And I got a house from the government only because of his recommendation. I still have that letter with me, which I have framed. I am so proud that he knows me, and I know him. We have been friends for the last 55 years. I love his attitude and nature,” Vikram Gokhale told ETimes in 2021.

He made an impression on viewers while playing Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s father in the 1999 Sanjay Leela Bhansali film “Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam.”

In 2022, he appeared in his final Bollywood film, “Nikamma,” alongside Abhimanyu Dassani, Shirley Setia, and Shilpa Shetty.
