The government has set a new deadline of March 31, 2024, for integrating Aadhaar with voter ID.

The deadline for linking the Aadhaar number with voter ID has been extended by the Central Government from April 1, 2023, to March 31, 2024. The original cutoff date was April 1, 2023, and with the time rapidly approaching, the government has been sending out frequent reminders.

The date by which Aadhaar numbers must be linked to voter IDs has been extended by the Central government to March 31, 2024. On April 1, 2023, the deadline for syncing voter ID with Aadhaar passed. The Ministry of Law and Justice announced the deadline extension.

Government of India, Ministry of Law and Justice (Legislative Department), Notification No. S.O.2893(E), 17 June 2022, as amended by this notification: “The Central Government hereby makes the following amendment in the said notification, namely: — In the said notification, for the words and figures, “the 1st April 2023” for the words and figures, “the 31 March 2024” shall be substituted.

Voters have till April 1, 2023 to submit their Aadhaar numbers to link with voter IDs, as stated by the Union government in June.

The original cutoff date was April 1, 2023, and the government sent regular reminders to citizens in the lead-up to that date.

The Election Commission of India stated categorically that the primary motivation for recommending that citizens link their Aadhaar numbers with their Voter IDs was to verify the identities of voters and ensure the accuracy of the electoral rolls. The electoral commission also initiated a drive to get Aadhaar numbers from voters in order to associate them with their respective voter IDs.
