According to a statement released by Meta on Monday announcing Vikas Purohit’s hiring, Purohit will be responsible for the strategy and execution of the charter that is targeted at the top advertisers and agency partners in the nation.
Former Tata CLiQ CEO Vikas Purohit has been appointed Director of Meta’s Global Business Group for India. Purohit quit his job at Tata CLiQ in December of last year. According to a statement made by Meta on Monday to announce Purohit’s hire, Vikas Purohit will currently be in charge of the strategy and execution of the charter that is focused on the country’s top advertisers and agency partners.
“I am thrilled to welcome Vikas as he joins our team to shape the role that Meta platforms can play in enabling businesses, supporting India’s economic growth, and building the country’s digital advertising ecosystem,” said Arun Srinivas, Director and Head of Ads Business for Meta in India, according to the statement.
The crucial agency teams, business solutions teams, and critical business vertical teams of the organisation will all answer to the former Tata CLiQ CEO, who will answer to Srinivas.
Vikas Purohit completed his BTech in mechanical engineering at IIT (BHU) in Varanasi from 1996 to 2000 before obtaining a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management (PGDBM) from IIM-B (2000-2002).
Purohit began working for the Aditya Birla Group in June 2002 as a management trainee. According to his LinkedIn page, he left the organisation in August 2006 while serving as the brand initiatives manager for Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Limited.
In September 2006, he started working for Tommy Hilfiger in Bengaluru as its Head of Business Operations. In March 2008, he changed jobs and joined Reliance Brands Limited, where he served as Head, Retail, in Mumbai.
His next stop was Planet Retail, which he joined in July 2010 and served as its COO, operating out of Mumbai. In June 2012, he relocated to Bengaluru and began working as the Director and Head of Amazon Fashion.
As COO of Tata CLiQ, Purohit relocated back to Mumbai in November 2016. He was granted the position of CEO in June 2018. This was his previous profile before he joined Meta India.
