God of War Ragnarok is coming soon. The initial reveal trailer, which debuted back in September 2021 during the PS5 showcase, gave us a glimpse into some of the new characters we’d be meeting and even provided some context for the plot. We now have an official release to add to our excitement about the possibility of our upcoming reunion with Kratos and Atreus, which was postponed until 2022.
Our last significant update on the adventure, before the announcement of the release date, was a post on the official PlayStation blog describing Ragnarok’s accessibility features.
God of War astonished players with how it matured the series, such as eliminating the extreme objectification of female characters and making Kratos a character people care about rather than an unrepentant bastard. Although Sony Santa Monica focused on creating a new legacy, it didn’t fully erase the past.
Years after Kratos’ travels through Greece when he killed every Olympian god, God of War picks up. Now that he is a father once more, he is attempting to guide his son, Atreus, away from some of the cruel mistakes Kratos committed in his former life on the PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 3.

God of War is a well-crafted third-person action and puzzle game with a beautiful story. It shows a passionate appreciation for Norse stories by creating compelling characters out of these gods. It provides integration of RPG systems, narrative-based exploration, special weapons, and storytelling techniques from several gaming genres. It’s a miracle of contemporary game design, but since it’s been tied to the PlayStation for so long, its technical potential and audience are both limited.
With this PC edition, Sony has not only made a fantastic game available to a large number of PC gamers, but it has also given God of War a second chance as eye candy.
On PC, God of War runs well at 120 frames per second in 1080p resolution when the settings are set to ultra. When Kratos rips the creatures open, the melting insides of the Draugr split apart with a snap, spraying orange viscera everywhere. When Kratos is feeling vulnerable, his visage twitches subtly to reveal his feelings. I can also count the individual grey hairs in his exquisitely detailed beard in close-up images.
I had thought that the PC version’s amazing graphics and fluid performance would allow me to experience this great game freshly without being confined by my PS4, which was about to be replaced by a PS5. God of War looks stunning and performs almost flawlessly, making it a thrilling addition to anyone’s Steam or Epic Games Store collection, but there’s another reason to be happy about its transition to PC: Sony Santa Monica’s masterpiece will be available to a mass of new gamers for the first time.
God of War Ragnarok on the PC is more than simply a fantastic visual upgrade for a game that is already magnificent. It’s the best version of one of the greatest video games ever created and is ideal for both replays and first plays.
God of War Ragnarok Release Date
God of War Ragnarok will finally be launched on November 9, 2022, according to Sony Santa Monica Studios, following an initial delay that put the game in the 2022 launch window. The information was revealed unexpectedly in a brief “Father and Son” cinematic trailer(opens in new tab), which featured Kratos and Atreus battling a huge wolf.

At the 2021 PS5 showcase, God of War Ragnarok made its premiere with a quick and cryptic teaser trailer. We only see a Norse symbol and the announcement that “Ragnarok is coming” rather than any actual game footage. Kratos can be heard in the distance telling Atreus and the unprepared audience that they “must prepare” themselves.
