Thor : Love and Thunder – Everything We Know

Thor : Love and Thunder - Everything We Know

Thor : Love and Thunder is Chris Hemsworth’s fourth standalone Thor film, and it debuted its first poster on Monday. It will be director Taika Waititi’s second Thor movie, following 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok (he also plays rocky goofball Korg). Thor : Love and Thunder will premiere on July 8, 2022.

Tessa Thompson will play Asgardian King Valkyrie, Natalie Portman will play Jane Foster, and Chris Pratt will play Peter Quill, to mention a few. Crowe as Zeus and Christian Bale as Gorr the God Butcher joins the cast. On Wednesday, Marvel revealed plenty of products, including Gorr and the announcement that Jane’s heroic identity will be known as “The Mighty Thor.” At the Marvel Cinematic Universe panel at San Diego Comic-Con in 2019, we finally learned more about the fourth Thor movie. One thing seemed evident amid a flood of new announcements: Thor 4 is going to knock our socks off.

Marvel’s Synopsis of Thor: Love and Thunder

“The film finds Thor (Chris Hemsworth) on a journey unlike anything he’s ever faced—a quest for inner peace. But his retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi) and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who—to Thor’s surprise—inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor. Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s vengeance and stop him before it’s too late.”

Thor : Love and Thunder’s Plot

After the events of Avengers: Endgame, the titular God of Thunder has retired from revenge and is hanging out with the Guardians of the Galaxy, conducting some soul searching. But it doesn’t take long for him to get dragged back into his latest quest. Marvel Studios has published the first teaser for the film, which features yet another ionic classic rock song.

Thor : Love and Thunder - Everything We Know

Thor has gone through a lot in his Marvel career, so it’s understandable that he’d like to relax. After all, he’s already lost his mother, father, brother, closest friend, homeland, crown, and a lot more. But, at the very least, he retains his sense of humor. And his new outfit(s) couldn’t be more stylish. The film, and especially Jane’s part, are heavily influenced by Jason Aaron’s Marvel comics.

Behind the Scenes

Thor : Love and Thunder see Taika Waititi return to the director’s chair. Jennifer Kaytin Robinson is cowriting the picture with the writer/director who directed Thor: Ragnarok. The film is produced by Kevin Feige and Brad Winderbaum.

Thor : Love and Thunder Cast

You can’t have a Thor movie without Chris Hemsworth, who returns to reprise his role as the Asgardian god. And filmmaker Taika Waititi will return as Korg, a fan-favorite character. Tessa Thompson, who played Valkyrie in Thor: Ragnarok, is also reprising her character. We learned in Avengers: Endgame that she accepted the role of King of Asgard, ruling over the surviving Asgardian people on Earth, which could give some entertaining material.

Natalie Portman reprises her role as Jane Foster, Thor’s ex-girlfriend, and scientist. Portman hasn’t featured in the MCU since Thor : The Dark World, with the exception of a brief cameo in Endgame. But she’s returned this time as the Mighty Thor. Jaimie Alexander, who has been missing since The Dark World, is also making a comeback.

Thor : Love and Thunder also features Chris Pratt, Vin Diesel, Karen Gillan, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, and Pom Klementieff from the Guardians of the Galaxy series. Gorr the God Butcher, played by Christian Bale, is the film’s Big Bad. In addition, Matt Damon and Russell Crowe will make cameo appearances, the latter as Zeus and the former, perhaps, as a Loki actor once more.
