Five people have been taken into custody by the Delhi Police for their involvement in the armed robbery of a delivery agent and an associate in the Pragati Maidan tunnel.

A video clip that was uploaded to social media and quickly went viral showed four unidentified assailants riding bicycles and brandishing weapons as they reportedly stopped the victims’ car within the tunnel. While one of them opened the door of the vehicle, the other one grabbed a bag containing the money and then ran away from the scene.

Inside the Pragati Maidan tunnel in Delhi, armed robbers stole almost 2 lakh rupees from a delivery agent and his partner. As many as five individuals have been apprehended by the Delhi Police in connection with this crime. According to the reports, two of the four individuals were taken into custody on Monday itself. After being questioned by the authorities, the remaining three suspects were taken into custody as a result of their actions.

In the aftermath of the incident, the Chief Minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal, has called for the resignation of the Lieutenant Governor and has also taken aim at the Centre about the subject.

The statement was made by Chief Minister Kejriwal in the form of a tweet. Move over to make room for someone who is capable of ensuring the people of Delhi’s safety and security. If the central government is unable to make Delhi safe, then we should be given control of the city. We will demonstrate how to make a city secure for the people who live there.

The event takes place just a few days after Kejriwal sent a letter to the LG VK Saxena in response to numerous homicides that have taken place in the nation’s capital.

In the letter that he sent, the Chief Minister of Delhi requested that his cabinet meet with the Lieutenant Governor and asked for directives for police personnel to organise joint meetings with elected MLAs, councillors, and Resident Welfare Associations to discuss better means of reducing crime in the national capital.

Patel Sajan Kumar, who is identified as the complainant and works as a delivery agent for a private company in Chandni Chowk, is said to have submitted a written complaint in which he mentioned that he and his associate Jigar Patel were going to Gurugram to deliver the cash to a customer. This information was provided by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in New Delhi, Pranav Tayal.
