Mamata, KCR, and Pinarayi to join JDS for the Karnataka Election of 2023?

JDS is a powerful regional party, and its influence will be crucial if, as in the 2018 elections, neither the Congress nor JDS obtains an absolute majority.

Mamata

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao are anticipated to arrive in the state to campaign for former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda’s Janata Dal-Secular as the Karnataka assembly election campaign reaches its peak.

According to reports, Chandrasekhar Rao may campaign in the border districts of Chikkaballapur, Kolar, Raichur, and Yadgiri in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. The JD-S has formed a 21-member state election campaign committee under the leadership of CM Dhananjaya, who recently quit the Congress party and joined the JD-S.

The primary objective of forming the committee is to facilitate the formation of a third front or anti-BJP front prior to the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. In this regard, Chandrasekhar Rao has already met with JDS supremo HD Deve Gowda in Bengaluru.

Additionally, the former chief minister HD Kumaraswamy visited West Bengal and discussed this matter with the current chief minister, Mamata Banerjee. Then, Mamata assured the JDS that she would take part in the state election campaign. In the first week of May, prior to the campaign’s conclusion on May 8, the two leaders are anticipated to reach out to the public and solicit support for the JDS.

In addition, JDS has extended support to the Communist Party of India-Marxist in three Karnataka constituencies. According to reports, there is also the possibility of approaching Kerala’s chief minister, Pinarayi Vijayan.

JDS is a powerful regional party, and its influence will be crucial if, as in the 2018 elections, neither the Congress nor JDS obtains an absolute majority. Karnataka will vote on May 10, and the vote tally will be conducted on May 13.
