After scoring his seventh hundred in the Indian Premier League, RCB star Virat Kohli responded to critics of his Twenty20 game by saying, “At my best again.”

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) icon Virat Kohli, whose strike rate and batting against spin in the middle overs have been called into question on numerous occasions, has now produced back-to-back hundreds against the Sunrisers Hyderabad and the Gujarat Titans.

At my best again

Virat Kohli said that he is playing some of his finest cricket in the shortest format of the game after he had just scored an amazing seventh hundred in the Indian Premier League. His critics believed that he had reached the end of his career as a Twenty20 hitter.

Although the official line has been “workload management” of senior players, the likes of captain Rohit Sharma and Kohli himself have not played for India in the shortest format. This comes after India was eliminated from the T20 World Cup semi-finals the previous year. There have been indications that India’s T20 team would undergo a revamp following this.

“I felt terrific. A lot of people believe that my performance in Twenty20 cricket is getting worse, but I don’t get that impression at all. In an interview with the BCCI’s ‘global feed’ after his 61-ball 101 not out against Gujarat Titans on Sunday, Virat Kohli stated, “I think I am playing my best Twenty20 cricket again.” Kohli’s innings of 101 not out came after he was not out.

His dazzling century, on the other hand, was overshadowed by Shubman Gill’s brilliant 104 not out off 52 balls, which knocked RCB out of the Indian Premier League.

Kohli, whose strike-rate and batting against spin in the middle overs have frequently been called into question, has now struck back-to-back hundreds against Sunrisers Hyderabad and Gujarat Titans, moving him to the top of the record of the maximum number of century scorers in the cash-rich league. Both of these victories put Kohli on top of the list.

“I’m just enjoying myself. “This is how I play Twenty20 cricket; I look to hit gaps, hit a lot of boundaries, and then the big ones towards the end if the situation allows me to,” said Kohli, who is getting close to 12,000 career Twenty20 runs. “I look to hit gaps, hit a lot of boundaries, and then the big ones towards the end if the situation allows me to.”

“You have to be able to read different situations and step up to the challenge when the time calls for it. The man who currently has 639 runs and is third on this year’s run-getters’ list after his skipper Faf du Plessis (730 runs) and Shubman Gill (680 runs) stated, “I feel really good with my game at the moment and how I’m batting.”
