IPL 2023, RCB vs CSK: Virat Kohli was fined 10% of the match fee; here is why.

Monday in Bengaluru, Royal Challengers Bangalore lost to Chennai Super Kings by eight runs in IPL 2023. The reason why the host’s Virat Kohli was fined 10% of his match fee is as follows.

Virat Kohli has been fined 10% of his match fee for violating the Indian Premier League (IPL) Code of Conduct during his team’s eight-run loss to the four-time defending champion Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Monday at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. According to a statement, Kohli had violated Article 2.2 of the IPL Code of Conduct.

While the IPL statement did not specify the incident that led to the code of conduct violation, it may have been the ex-RCB captain’s excessive celebration following the dismissal of CSK middle-order batsman Shivam Dube off the bowling of Wayne Parnell on Monday. The ‘Southern Derby’ was won by Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s team by eight runs thanks to a 52-run knock from Dube off 27 balls.

IPL statement: “RCB batsman Virat Kohli was fined 10% of his match fee for violating the IPL Code of Conduct during the IPL 2023 match against CSK at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.” According to the statement, Kohli, who scored six runs on Monday, had “confessed to the Level 1 violation under Article 2.2 of the IPL Code of Conduct.”

“For Level 1 Code of Conduct violations, the Match Referee’s decision is final and enforceable,” the statement continued. On April 20, RCB will play Punjab Kings (PBKS) at Mohali.
