Friday in Gurugram, Ramesh Agarwal, the father of Oyo Rooms founder Ritesh Agarwal, perished after falling from a high-rise building.

Friday, Ramesh Agarwal, the father of Ritesh Agarwal, founder of Oyo Rooms, died after jumping from a high-rise building in Gurugram. Ramesh Agarwal reportedly fell from his 20th-floor apartment in an upscale community while his wife, son, and daughter-in-law were inside.

Ramesh Agarwal passed away mere days after his son Ritesh and Geetansha Sood’s wedding at the Taj Palace. The 30-year-old billionaire reportedly organised a grandiose reception at a five-star hotel in Delhi following the ceremony. Masayoshi Son, the chief executive officer of SoftBank Group, and other industry stalwarts attended the wedding. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman was also present.

In an emotional statement following his father’s passing, Ritesh Agarwal said, “With a heavy heart, my family and I would like to announce that on March 10, our guiding light and strength, my father, Ramesh Agarwal, passed away. He lived a full life and daily inspired me and countless others. His passing is a tragic loss for our family.”

“My father’s sympathy and kindness carried us through our most difficult moments and into the future. His words will echo deep in our hearts. In this time of sorrow, we ask that everyone respect our privacy,” Ritesh said in a statement released by Oyo.

Ritesh began his entrepreneurial career at the age of seventeen. He left college to pursue his entrepreneurial goals and began working on the technology that would become OYO Rooms, an online travel aggregator.
