Haaland ‘bicycles’ his way to a record-setting performance for Man City; Guardiola likens him to Messi and Ronaldo.

Erling Haaland increased his English Premier League goal total to 30 with a pair of goals in Manchester City’s 4-1 win over Southampton on Saturday. Pep Guardiola has compared him to Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, citing his statistical prowess.

Erling Haaland, a Norwegian superstar, has been instrumental for Manchester City, the English champions. After scoring twice in Saturday’s English Premier League (EPL) road game against Southampton, he officially became a club legend. Haaland scored twice as the visitors triumphed 4-1.

What’s more intriguing is that he now has 30 goals for the season in the English Premier League, becoming the first player in City history to do so. In total, he was the tenth player in English Premier League history to do so. Interestingly, in his previous three ties across all tournaments, Haaland has scored ten goals, or one per 20 minutes.

After Haaland’s historic performance, City manager Pep Guardiola compared him to modern greats Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. His words were, “The second one was a real show stopper. Bringing the ball down from above is a challenging task. His abilities truly shine out.”

“We have to have him. Our performance in the first half was below par, but he helped us turn things around. As a top scorer, he is on par with Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, with whom we enjoyed two wonderful decades. He has a high point total, “Guardiola said during an interview with BBC Sport.
