Kanye West’s latest album makes history on the Billboard charts, Debuting 23 songs on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, two songs already on the top 10 list. The American rapper has also made a legendary impact on Billboard’s Top Christian Albums and Gospel albums. Along with that, “Donda” with equivalents units of 300k and above sold in the United States earned Kanye West the year’s biggest spot of no.1 in the Billboard 200 albums chart so far.
“Donda” has earned Kanye West the second lead album in the Top Christian album chart and the Top Gospel album chart with the biggest week of album sales. His previous leading album, “Jesus Is King”, which was released in the month of November 2019 had covered a total sale of 264k in the first week. The album led both the charts for 8 weeks and 67 weeks respectively according to MRC data.
West’s latest album “Donda” has a track list of 27 songs out of which 23 are already on the Hot 100 chart. The album was an unpredicted debut which was only confirmed when it was released through streamers and retailers. The official date of its debut was not declared openly. After an advertising campaign, on an unusual Sunday, it was released. Usually, new albums are released on Fridays to get analysed by the chart data.
With the release of the album, Kanye West continues to rule to Hot Christian Songs and Hot Gospel Songs. His previous album had listed 10 songs simultaneously on the respective charts. He also continued to even hold the 11thposition on the chart. In fact, he was the first artist to rule the entire top 10 positions in both charts as confirmed by the Billboard data. By far, Kanye West has released the biggest unit sales album of 2021.
